I just love this time of the year, one doesn't have to have excuses for just sitting around and doing nothing, except crocheting away! I call crochet nothing, because it is easy! Well, that is when I crochet something that doesn't need to many braincells to be made ;) If I make something were I have to count alot, that takes alot of energi, that is not relaxing to me. The last few days I have made several of pads, a couple of shower mittens, and a cuddly bunny. It is suppose to look like one, that is ;) Se the picture above. You know what I got for Christmas? I got lots of yarn! I am so happy! I have had a project of using all the yarn I have. I buy so much yarn on sale, sometimes only because it is cheep and not only for what it looks like... So, getting new yarn for Christmas will delay that project somewhat ;) I have mostly made baby dresses and other baby clothes. Most of these clothes I have donated to charity. I feel it is rewarding to contribute to help other people. The clothes are sold on a market in Spain and the money is spent to help people in need. I will continue with making clothes and donating it to charity. Another thing I was going to do was to make videos of the Shower-mitten and the Christmas Stocking. I have prepared myself by watching other videos, just to se how a I could make a good video. Doing that I have also been so lucky to find alot of nice internet sites and blogs. And there are thousands and thousands of beautiful patterns! I have started a babyblanket, din different colors. I will post a picture of it when I finish it.
I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday and that you are using your extra time to do things you love <3 Have a wonderful evening <3 Kari

Hello, dear readers!
How has your last few days been? Busy? Mine has! I think I´m finished with all the presents, and most of the food for the holiday too. Even if the time has been busy, I have managed to design a Christmas stocking =) I am so proud of it! What do you think of it? I have written the pattern and I am going to make a video where one can follow me when I make it - and you can make your own =) Since it is only a few days to Christmas I am not sure I will be able to publish it so one can make it for this holiday - but for next Christmas, for sure! I have bought alot of red yarn and I am ready to make this stocking for Christmas presents next year :D Maby I will sitt at a sunny beach in Spain crocheting red Christmas stockings =) I said I have finished all the presents, but that is the presents I have bought. I still have a few showermittens to make! I have bought some yarn and soaps for that, and then I have a design in my head that needs to get out with a hoock and some yarn - then on paper... I remember the "soap on a rope" from when I was little, but not how it looked like exactly, so now I want to make one or to for presents. I am exited about this! I really wish for all of you to have a nice and peaceful Christmas holiday. Make the best Christmas for you and your family - no matter what the trials you have! Christmas wishes for you all! Kari Hi there!
Welcome back to all who have been here before, and welcome to all new readers! I am so glad you are reading this. Christmas is near and I have been crocheting a lot. I have made gifts and designed new things. I didn´t realize that I could design, and neither did I know that I could have a "designers" block either. In stressful situations I have problems concentrating and that means i can´t think of new designs. There has been a lot going on in my life right now, some very sad things, and I get calm when I crochet. I feel I have somethingelse to think of, my mind is occupied with the crochet I am doing, and not about the other things that is going on around me and my family. Do some of you design? How do you come up with new things? To me it is like it "popps" in to my mind, and I just know how to make it. Than, again, it is difficult to write it down sometimes... Like the shower mitten. I made it, but it wasn´t easy to write the pattern down. I still have not done it. The pictures on this page is from the granny square I designed. I have just been sponsored with yarn and decided to make some squares and se what I end up with. It could be a blanket or - maby a handbag ;) Who knows? I´ll show you when it is finnished ;) Well, if you have any questions for me - idéas of what you would like me to write about, questions about crocheting - send me a comment about it and I will try to answer <3 You all have a nice night! Kari In need of a Christmas gift for 2 little girls I got the idea of a shower mitten for children. I made some bumps on the one side, making them a little more fun!
I made both in a purple color. The girls receiving them are sisters, and only a year a part, so better give them the same color - right? ;) They are my youngest nieces, and are very cute. To better present the gifts, I bought some cellophane bags and put the soaps and shower mittens in them. I stapled the bags to close them, and put on a ribbon. They look great, right? If you go to My own designs, you can se bigger pictures, and - in time - I might put out the pattern for it ;) Have a nice evening! Kari So, I have made an own granny square design. I am so happy about it and it was not that difficult to make. I enjoyed to make it, and started making squares to make a blanket. For myself! Well, I made squares for weeks, it felt like... All in all, I made 90 squares, and they looked beautiful! I was very satisfied with them. I managed to find a nice way to crochet them together, then I crochet around the whole blanket to give it a nice finish. I then went to wash it - and it shrunk! I don´t know how to explaine the feeling - I was with out them I guess...
It looks like it´s 50 years old, and washed the same amount of times too! Gosh, how I regret washing it! It was suppose to be cotton, and that shouldn´t shrink. Well, I took pictures of it, and it actually looks better in the pictures! So, be careful when you wash something you´v made, even if it is cotton! The pictures above are after being in the washing machine. The bottom picture is how the squares looked like before they were washed. Have a nice evening! Kari |
